Weightloss for mountain biking (1/4)

I'm going to start the 4 factors to lose weight this
week with the simplest of the 4...
Move more!

Weightloss is all about being in a calorie deficit.
The more you move, the more calories
you burn.

It sounds simple - but it makes SUCH a big difference. When I used
to train people full time, 6 days a week, I could eat WHATEVER I wanted
and not put on any body fat because I was on my feet for 8-12 hours a day.
No I split my time between 3 days in the gym with clients and
3 days a week on MTB Fitness.

It's been interesting to see how much more I have to watch what I eat
due to that decrease in activity.

My fitbit tells me I burn about 1000 calories less on my laptop
days where I'm sedentary unless I go for a ride/walk/workout.
So what does this mean for you?

It means you need to get active!

The more you move, the more calories you are going to burn throughout the day.
In my opinion, the best way to move more, is to get a Fitbit
and use it to track your steps. I keep an eye on my steps everyday
so I know how many I've done. I always aim to get over my 10000 steps
each day and if I find I'm sedentary for too long I will make a conscious
effort to move more.
When you focus on it, it's surprisingly easy to improve your movement throughout the day.
I have a client who runs a Marketing Agency in Manchester. He'll often have 2 or
3 hours of phone meetings to do.

What he'll do is take those calls while walking around
the shopping centre. It means he stays sharp and awake
while on the phone...but he also ends up logging 15k-20k
steps a day!

Think of ways you can get more active...
Can you go talk to someone on the other side of the building instead of emailing?

Can you walk with your lunch?
Can you park further out and walk to work?

Can you get off the train a stop sooner?

Can you get a standing desk?

You'll be surprised how big of a difference all these little
bits of movement in your day actually make!

Factor 1 of 4 for losing weight for your riding :
Move more!
